Colour Management is incredibly important to me not least because it means when I’m editing, I’m not making unnecessary adjustments; the colours I’m looking at are accurate so any adjustments I make are for artistic reasons. Colour Management ultimately saves me time when editing and money when printing due to no wasted ink or paper.
Now are we talking about my photography/ editing life or my personal life? If we’re talking photography life then without doubt it was my 39-45 World War 2 Veterans Portraits Project, but I would say rather than achievement, it was the most fulfilling and rewarding thing I’ve ever done. A self funded project that saw me travelling all over the country photographing World War 2 Veterans so as to provide them at no cost, with a timeless portrait. I met so many incredible people and made some very special friends that sadly have since passed but will never be forgotten. A 3 month long exhibition displaying the portraits was held at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum where on the opening day Veterans from all over the country, family and friends and VIPs were in attendance along with charities and BBC with it being shown on the evening news. Several of the portraits are now on permanent display at the museum in their Heroes Gallery.
I used to be a Competitive Bodybuilder and a few years back I spent the afternoon chatting, hanging out and shopping with Arnold Schwarzenegger They say “Never meet your Heroes” but ’they’ have never met Arnold
Be consistent. Love what you do. Please yourself, not others. Experiment.
