ColorChecker Passport Video 2 is an indispensable tool that helps you capture the colours of the world more accurately from capture to edit. Begin with the most neutral image, even when using multiple cameras, before you begin your creative colour grading or editing process.
The art of colour control is all about getting your colours to match from input to output. That means your camera captures true colour, your monitor displays them accurately, and your printer produces a photo that matches what you see on screen.
ColorChecker Passport Video 2 is a powerful, hybrid capture-to-edit solution for any creative looking to save time, providing a consistent and predictable neutral starting point so you can get to your final look faster than ever before. And when used with any Calibrite monitor calibration solution, you’ll save time and money, avoiding costly mistakes and frustrating colour corrections. Take the Video 2 with you on every shoot – inside or outdoors; it will quickly become your go-to colour tool during pre-production, capture, and edit.
Specifically designed for today’s video production workflow, the Video Colour Target includes four rows of colour chips designed for video capture and editing, giving you a powerful chart to speed up colour grading.
Chromatic Colours: six chips specifically designed to align with the colour axis on a vectorscope
Skin Tones: ranging from light to dark with subtle undertones
Linear Grayscale: six steps for even grey balance, including highlight and shadow regions
Highlight and Shadow Greys: six black and white patches, including a high gloss black, to capture the full range of your video camera
3-Step Grayscale Target
An enhanced grayscale for achieving ideal camera exposure for video production, including white, 40 IRE gray and high gloss black that can act as a black trap when positioned without reflection.

Photographing the industry-standard ColorChecker Classic is a vital step in attaining consistent, predictable color at capture. When combined with the Camera Calibration software, you can produce custom DNG and ICC profiles of your camera’s response to scene lighting for consistent, predictable, and repeatable results from image to image and camera to camera.
The Classic 24-patch target also provides a visual point of color reference to see how the corrections will affect the rest of your colors before you apply them. Each of the 24 color patches represent colors found in the natural world, such as sky blue, skin tones, and leaf green. And each patch reflects light just as its real-world counterpart. They are individually controlled to ensure a consistent solid tone to produce pure, flat, rich color without dots or mixed tints.
Camera Calibration Software
Create custom DNG and/or ICC camera profiles using the industry standard 24-patch ColorChecker Classic Target or the ColorChecker Digital SG Target, together with the stand-alone ColorChecker Camera Calibration software or the Adobe Lightroom® Plug-In.
This advanced camera profiling technology provides excellent results with either reference target, producing profiles that work exceptionally well under virtually any lighting condition. Auto-detection will locate the target automatically, making the profile creation process simple. Whether you are shooting with just one camera or multiple cameras, colour perfectionists can easily establish an accurate colour foundation and maintain control of their colours.
Dual-Illuminant DNG Profile
A dual-illuminant profile combines images taken under two different light sources to create a single profile, which can then be applied to an even wider variety of lighting conditions. Dual-Illuminant profiles can be made with any two of twenty-one supported illuminants, giving you the freedom to move between most lighting conditions without switching profiles.
Starting with a precise white balance ensures the colours you capture are accurate and provides a point of reference for post-shoot editing. The White Balance target is a spectrally neutral target that provides a consistent reference point across mixed lighting conditions that you may encounter during a shoot. Since the target reflects light equally across the visible spectrum, creating an in-camera custom white balance can compensate for varying lighting.
With this color target, you’ll be able to:
Note for photographers: RAW shooters can capture this target anytime during the session; JPEG shooters should make it their first shot.
“Why can’t I use just any white object for white balancing?”
White balancing on a piece of paper or another white element in the scene may seem like a simple workaround, but these objects are not neutral under all lighting conditions and certainly not consistent.
An inaccurate white balance will result in colour casts and a lack of consistency between lighting conditions, making colour corrections extremely time-consuming. It will slow down your post-processing as you attempt to fix the resulting colour casts.

If you have no idea if your colors are accurate, how can you possibly hope that others will see your images the same way you do? Calibration is a key first step in perfecting your artistic vision.
Don Komarechka
Even though a lot of us are viewing images on uncalibrated mobile phones and tablets, if you are taking the time to work up your raw images having a calibrated and profiled monitor will make sure that your color is accurate regardless of how the images are being viewed. And of course if you go and make a print of those images they will have accurate color as well. On the flip side, if you are working up raw images on an uncalibrated monitor you are essentially working in your own reality with no idea if the colors you are seeing are what others will see. Regardless of how your images are viewed, working up images on a calibrated and profiled monitor assures you have crafted them to the highest level possible.
