Why is color management important to your workflow?

I make my own fine-art prints. It is important to me to have consistent color from my monitor to my printer and to my viewing booth. Additionally it is essential to know that when I send out images to clients, for social media or to friends that the color is conforming to ICC standards.

What would you say is your greatest achievement to this day?

In life in general: Being able to make a living doing what I love most, travel and photography. I feel very fortunate that I found a way to fulfill my dream of traveling the world, exploring new cultures, and communicating my passion to others.

What is an interesting fact about yourself?

In 1978, I spent 3 1/2 months on a tortora reed boat sailing/rowing around Titicaca in Bolivia and Peru. A dubious honor.

What is a top tip for people who aspire to do what you do?

Photographic professionals have something else besides great talent and business sense, they have what I call “the tenacity quotient”. They want to be a photographer; they live to be a photographer, and they will die being a photographer.
There is no pathway in the field of photography with signposts, hints, or Get Out of Jail Free cards. It is like being dropped blindfolded in the middle of Alaska and being told to find your way to Seattle. Someone who wants to be a photographer will find a way to make a living in this convoluted, underpaid field. And, that is what it takes to be one. No one can tell you how. Each photographer finds a different route to becoming established and solvent. You must figure it out on your own. All the photographers I know have done this.
